VietNamNet Bridge – The Long Bien Bridge is the first steel bridge across the Red River, connecting the districts of Hoan Kiem and Long Bien. It was built by the French (1898 – 1902), firstly named after Paul Doumer, the Indochina Governor. People called it the Cai River Bridge or Bo De Bridge because it crossed the Bo De wharf.

More bridges are being built over the Red River so the old Long Bien Bridge only serves motorbikes and bicycles
