Industrial zone builds housing for workers

Construction of a housing complex for workers began in southern Dong Nai Province on Thursday at the Nhon Trach Industrial Zone.


The 100,000sq.m complex will have 27 five-storey buildings with accommodation for at least 4,400 workers, a kindergarten, a market, a clinic, and a sports stadium.


It is being built by the Viet Nam Urban and Industrial Zone Development Investment Corporation at a cost of VND758 billion (US$36.3 million). It will be completed within eight years.

Traffic-related death toll edges up


More than 6,500 traffic accidents occurred in the first quarter, killing nearly 2,600 and injuring 6,400 others, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.


The number of deaths was marginally up from a year ago though the number of accidents fell by 21.54 per cent and injuries by 28 per cent.


Of them, 6,240 were road accidents in which 2,542 people died.

Kon Tum develops traffic infrastructure


The Central Highlands city of Kon Tum will improve traffic facilities in its rural parts by spending VND76 billion (US$3.64 million) by 2015.


It will build asphalt and concrete roads and pavements in the communes of Hoa Binh, Doan Ket, and La Chim.

Tourism festival opens in HCM City


The ninth HCM City Tourism Festival opened at the September 23 Park in District 1 on April 4.


More than 80 domestic and foreign tourism fims, travel companies, hotels, and others have set up 120 stalls with information on inbound and outbound tours and hotel, food, and other services.


The event closes on April 7.
