Long An to widen and build nine IZs

The Mekong Delta province of Long An will expand and open nine industrial zones from now to 2020, under a plan approved by the Prime Minister to develop local industrial zones.


The zones include Viet Phat (formerly named Tan Thanh), Phu Thanh, Nam Thuan (formerly named Dai Loc), Tan Phu, The Ky, Huu Thanh, Nam Tan Tap, Long Hau 3 and An Nhut Tan 2.

210,00 living with HIV/AIDS in Viet Nam


As many as 63,000 people have died from HIV/AIDS since the first case was reported in 1990. More than 210,000 people in Viet Nam are now living with HIV/AIDS.


The figures were released by the HIV/AIDS Administration for HIV/AUDS Control (VAAC) under the Ministry of Health.


It further reports that in 2012, about 14,100 new cases were discovered, and 2,100 HIV/AIDS-affected people died. At leat 98 per cent of districts and communes and 79 per cent of wards and towns have people living with HIV/AIDS.

Ben Tre stops five investment projects


The People’s Committee of the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Province of Ben Tre said it has decided to temporarily stop five projects due to delays. The committee said these projects cover an area of more than 1,200ha. Four of the projects have been late for 23-33 months and one has been late for 10 months.
