As the biggest city in central Viet Nam and one of the country’s most important ports, Da Nang plays a vital role in the region’s economy while also boasting unique culture, heritage and scenic attractions.

The latest issue of our news magazine Outlook visits Da Nang to examine the great changes the city has seen since its liberation 38 years ago at the close of the American War.

Outlook, which goes on sale in Ha Noi, HCM City and major urban centres this morning, reports on the rapid development and renewal the coastal city has undergone during the past decades, work that continues with the recent opening of major bridges boasting eye-catching designs.

Elsewhere in this issue we mark the anniversary of the liberation of southern Viet Nam in a special piece featuring conversations with several Vietnamese people aged 30 years and under. We also report on HCM City’s bright economic outlook after a year of successes for the city’s economy despite the global slowdown, sample street food in Panang and meet a tech whiz with an altruistic streak.

Readers can also catch up on what’s hot in the country’s culinary, sports and arts scenes – and check out listings for everything from galleries and markets to embassies and airlines.

Outlook is available for VND14,000 at the Viet Nam News offices at 11 Tran Hung Dao Street in Ha Noi and 120 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in HCM City. — VNS
