(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang has expressed his hope that Vietnam and the US will soon adopt the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.
In a meeting with US Trade Representative Michael B. G. Froman in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday, Sang stressed the great significance of the agreement to all signers, adding that it’s important to boost economic and trade ties between Vietnam and the US. The state leader went on to say that Vietnam respects the TPP’s requirements and will exert its efforts to meet these requirements as scheduled. Vietnam is interested in broadening its ties with the US, and the TPP is a step in this direction.
Froman said he considers the TPP an important factor in the US policy toward Asia, and this agreement will create an opportunity for Vietnam to further its development and regional economic integration. Froman suggested that the negotiators should be flexible but abide by the criteria, and expressed confidence that the negotiations are nearing an end.
