HA NOI (VNS) — Some 600 educated Vietnamese young people will be selected to work as local leaders in 62 poor districts across the city under a project supported by the Korean International Exchange Fund.
The project, which is the focus of the Memorandum of Understanding signed yesterday in Ha Noi between the Korean International Exchange Fund and Viet Nam’s Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to encourage strategic co-operation between the two nations.
The 600 young people, who will work as vice chairmen/chairwomen of the communal people’s committees, will be selected on the basis of their college degrees and other outstanding qualifications compared with their peers.
The co-operation programme will continue for five years. About 40 Vietnamese project members have also been invited to South Korea under an exchange programme.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Tran Anh Tuan emphasised that the major goal of the project is to provide training and improve the management capacity of the government through the project members.
He also said he hoped the Koreans would share their experiences of developing the quality of governmental staff across various sectors. — VNS
