Nhan Dan Online – The Central Power Corporation (CPC) has been awarded the Independence Order, first class, for its significant role in ensuring power security for the central region.

Speaking at the award ceremony on January 16, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai stated that the CPC should expand power supply programmes for rural, mountainous and remote areas so as to achieve the Government target that by 2020 all rural households will have access to electric power.

Since it was founded, nearly 40 years ago, the CPC has made significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, particularly in the central region.

Over the past five years, the company has provided 41.7 billion kWh of electricity for 3.1 million customers in the central region, earning a revenue of VND46 trillion (US$2.2 billion).

In 2014, the CPC aims to generate 12.2 billion kWh in total and streamline its operations so as to reduce power loss during transmission and distribution.

The corporation also plans to increase investment in a number of power generation projects for the rural and mountainous regions.
