Over the past 10 years of development, Hong Van Hotel Joint Venture Company has contributed to creating a new image for Quang Ninh Province’s northeast border city, Mong Cai. Taking advantage of its location, Hong Van continues its strong moves with the tourism industry of Quang Ninh in general and of Mong Cai in particular.


With investment capital of over US$30 million, Hong Van has been developing the 5-star hotel project with 360 rooms and one international trading centre. Since 2009, the company has invested about VND350 billion into Hong Van urban project. This is one of the projects the city pays due attention to and encourages to develop. This is also the development strategy of the Management Board of Hong Van Hotel Joint Venture Company. The total area of the two projects is over 35 hectares. It is expected that by 2015, the hotel and entertainment centre will go into operation, promising a colourful economic picture for this northern gateway city. When going into operation, the project will attract businesses and domestic and foreign organizations to Quang Ninh in general and to Mong Cai in particular. Also, this will be the venue for international level fairs and a reliable address for domestic and foreign investors coming to Mong Cai, which not only promotes tourism development, but also contributes to the economic development of the northeast gate.


The strategy for construction of commercial centres, amusement parks and tourist development of Hong Van fits with the development strategy of Mong Cai city in particular and of Quang Ninh province in general. In recent years, besides improving the quality of service and business environment, the Quang Ninh tourism industry strives to diversify tourism products. This is one of the important goals as well as motivations for Quang Ninh’s tourism to reach sustainable development in the future. According to leaders of the tourism industry, the development of tourism products must follow the oriented strategy, and clearly define key markets. In particular, Quang Ninh’s tourism products have to be unique and hold characteristic values to attract high-quality tourists. It is also significant to focus on building products as a strength of the province.


In order to achieve the goal, that by 2020 the total number of tourists to Quang Ninh will have reached 10.5 million, including 4 million international tourists, and making total revenue of VND30,000 billion, Mong Cai has strengthened management, promoted marketing activities and mobilization of resources from all economic sectors to invest in tourism. The city currently has 260 hotels and motels, including a number of 3-5 star standard hotels, ensuring the conditions to serve local and foreign visitors. Total tourism revenue over 5 years has reached 1,893.74 billion, an average increase of 12.95 percent a year. Along with the strong rise of young Mong Cai city, Hong Van has been promoting its activeness and improving its service quality, contributing to making Quang Ninh an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
