Nhan Dan – The justice sector needs to ensure the strict and effective implementation and enforcement of the Constitution, one of the country’s key political tasks in 2014.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement while chairing a conference held yesterday in Ho Chi Minh City on implementing the justice work for the year.
He requested that the sector strengthen its law dissemination, simplify administrative procedures – especially in construction investment, tax and customs – and review laws and ordinances that require amendments or supplements in line with the revised Constitution.
The justice sector should take proactive measures in international law integration and minimise the risks of legal conflicts, while making necessary preparations to put the Law on Handling Administrative Violations into force, he said.
Deputy PM Phuc also praised the efforts made by the justice sector in 2013 and its active role in perfecting institutions, reforming administrative procedures and issuing numerous documents guiding the implementation of laws.
According to Deputy Minister of Justice Hoang The Lien, the sector had consulted the Government to submit 29 draft laws in 2013, 23 of which were passed by the National Assembly and the NA Standing Committee, including some important laws like the revised Land Law and the amendment and supplement to Article 170 of the Enterprise Law.
Regarding orientations for 2014, the justice sector is focused on simplifying administrative procedures and giving timely announcements of new ones; working closely with relevant ministries and agencies to address issues relating to free migration, civil status and nationality at Vietnam-Lao-Cambodia border areas; getting actively involved in solving the country’s international disputes and improving the quality of international negotiation.
