(CPV) - Vietnam's leather, shoes and bags export turnover is expected to reach about USD11.3 billion in 2014, according to the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso).
Of this, footwear exports were valued at USD9.3 billion, while bag exports amounted to USD2.1 billion.
In 2013, export turnover of the commodity group exceeded USD10.3 billion, an 18 percent rise over a year previous and three percent higher than the set target. With this impressive achievement, the leather and footwear sector accounted for 11 percent of the processing industry and 7.7 percent of the country’s total.
Currently, the top ten largest export markets for Vietnam’s leather and footwear are the US, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Italy, China, Finland, and the Republic of Korea.
Material imports to serve the sector were valued at USD3.7 billion in 2013, up 18 percent over the previous year, contributing to creating a trade surplus of USD6.6 billion./.
