(VOV) -The presence of former Manchester United (MU) striker Dwight Yorke at a ceremony in Hanoi to welcome the FIFA World Cup Trophy on January 2 was an incredible surprise for many Vietnam football fans.

Yorke has become an ambassador for Coca-Cola and is currently participating in a journey to take the golden world cup around the globe.
He said he wants to inspire a football-loving spirit among people around the world. “I am happy because I can bring happiness to others,” he confided.
He was pleased at the Vietnamese fans love for Manchester United, saying that it has been a great source of pride for him as an MU member.
Yorke expressed his hope that Vietnamese football will qualify for the World Cup finals in the future.
Born in 1971 in Canaan, Trinidad and Tobago, Dwight Yorke started his career by playing for Aston Villa FC nine years ago. He then joined Manchester United, a move which helped him climb to the top of his career with three historic scores in 1999.
Nicknamed “The Smiling Assassin, York played four years for MU, playing in 95 matches and scoring 47 goals.
