Home-field advantage drove Nghe An to a 1-0 lead shortly after the first whistle. Taking a pass from Cong Vinh, Biayaga Paul Emile fired an unstoppable close-range strike that proved enough to beat Quang Nam goalkeeper Van Cuong.

Emile’s goal begun the dreadful nightmare for Quang Nam. In the 25th minute, Quang Tinh chipped a delightful pass to Phi Son who then got away from two QNK defenders before doubling Nghe An’s advantage.

Phi Son then contributed to Nghe An’s third goal with a pass to Emile who then completed own double.

After the break, Hong Viet was put into field to replace Emile and he quickly made his mark with an impressive personal showing to make it 4-0 for Nghe An in the 56th minute.

Ndjodo Edouard and Cong Vinh put salt onto QNK’s wounds with two more goals in the 58th and 71st minutes before Adamu Yahaya managed to score a consolation for his team four minutes later.

The 6-1 victory earned Song Lam Nghe An three more points and lifted them to top of the provisional V-League standings with six points, ahead of Hanoi T&T thanks to their better goal difference.

In another match the same day, Hung Vuong An Giang registered a home-soil goalless draw against Dong Nai.
