Leaving behind the unbearable pain, they set sail on the first days of Lunar New Year (Tet), and got a big haul, signaling a bonanza year ahead.
Nguyen Hoai An, a boat owner, said his vessel caught more than 400kg of squids, 600 kg of hairfish for export, and tonnes of other fishes.
According to his calculations, each fisherman aboard the boat has pocketed around VND3-5 million.
These days Lach Quen fishing port in Quynh Luu district is crowded with buyers and sellers. Fishermen are happy about their big catch, heralding a prosperous year in 2014.
