This content is under a project on bringing culture and arts activities to remote, border, island and ethnic regions in the 2014-2020 period, which has recently been approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The project aims to narrow the gap in cultural and art products between underprivileged and urban areas. It will be done by promoting public arts activities, including both professional and amateur performances, while calling for domestic and foreign investment along the way.
The project also encourages sectors, enterprises, associations, Vietnamese and foreign organizations to invest in the culture and arts field in remote, border areas, islands and ethnic-inhabited areas.
The project also aims to build border and island areas to become cultural places to preserve and promote specific traditional cultural activities of ethnic minority groups; and attractive places for domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to improving socio-economic and cultural life for ethnic people.
To carry out the projects, relevant agencies have the task of improving access the culture and arts among people in remote, border areas, islands and ethnic-inhabited areas. Professional artistic troupes will conduct tours for festivals, film screenings, libraries, exhibitions and other cultural activities.
Simultaneously, officials from the grassroots and central levels must raise public awareness of the fact that culture is both a spiritual foundation of society and a driving force of socio-economic progress. They are also tasked with personnel training and the better use of media like radio, television and internet for the cause./.
