On February 11, on occasion of the New Year, the provincial Management Committee of Industrial Zones held a meeting for enterprises working in the provincial industrial zones (IZs) at the office of Scavi Hue Company in Phong Dien Industrial Zone. Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; representatives of the Provincial Permanent People’s Council, the Provincial People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front of the Province; representatives of related departments; and representatives of cities and districts.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tran, Head of the provincial IZs Management Committee, presented a report on the operation of IZs and enterprises working there in 2013, missions and targets in 2014. In 2013, the provincial IZs Management Committee received 10 new projects and adjusted 3 projects with a total investment capital of over VND 2,000 billion; implemented infrastructure projects at some IZs in order to create the most favourable conditions for enterprises working there. With those efforts, provincial IZs attained an industrial production value of VND8,554.6 billion, accounting for 45% of industrial production value of the whole province; contributed VND1,264.9 billion to the provincial budget; attracted more 1,810 employees, raising total number of employees in IZs up to 15,920 employees, an increase of 12.8% in comparison with that in 2012. Especially in January 2014, 5 projects were granted investment certificate in the provincial IZs with a total investment capital of about VND505 billion. As a result, there have been 92 active projects in IZs with a total investment capital of about VND18,266.3 billion. This is considered as a favourable start in attracting investment in the provincial IZs in 2014.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien highly appreciated and congratulated enterprises and the provincial IZs Management Committee on their achievements in the past years. He also wished enterprises new successes in 2014. Today, in the context of new development of the country and especially in the context of the provincial efforts to become a governed-centrally city, more than ever, economic sectors and enterprises play an important role in promoting the provincial economy. The provincial leaders always expect contribution and development of enterprises in 2014 and promise to facilitate enterprises.
