A 45-year-old Russian man suddenly died on a plane that was about to leave Cam Ranh Town, Khanh Hoa Province for Russia on Friday afternoon, the airport authority reported.
The man, Kostin Evgeni, and his wife took flight N42538 on a plane of Norwind Airlines, at the Cam Ranh International Airport to return to Russia at 2:30 pm on February 14.
When plane was about to take off, Kostin Evgeni suddenly passed out. His wife called the crew for help but he died soon later. The pilot stopped the aircraft for concerned agencies to handle the incident.
The plane took off again later, about two hours behind the schedule.
The man’s body was taken to the Khanh Hoa International Medical Quarantine Center, where doctors, after examination, concluded that he had died of a stroke, not an infectious disease, according to Dr Nguyen Hoa Hoi, director of the center.
The man’s body is being kept at the morgue of the Khanh Hoa Province General Hospital.
Concerned agencies are carrying out necessary procedures related to the death of the man, awaiting his family’s decision regarding how to handle his body.
This is the first case of its kind that has occurred at Cam Ranh airport, the terminal authority said.
According to the provincial police, Kostin Evgeni and his family traveled to Khanh Hoa for about 15 days ago.
