(CPV) – The living conditions of rural people in Soc Trang province will be improved thanks to the construction of water supply stations using solar and wind energy, funded by Denmark.

According to the project, three water supply stations will be built in Chau Thanh district, Prey Chop hamlet and the Vinh Phuoc ward of Vinh Chau town, remote areas which are densely populated by Khmer ethnic minority people.

With the total investment of over VND1 billion, the stations’ daily capacity is between 30 and 70 cubic meters, operated by solar or both solar and wind energy.

Once the stations are put into operation, they will help improve the local peoples’ living conditions, ensuring water supply to serve daily life. It is also an effective, low cost solution to replace water pumps running on electricity or diesel.

The project has been supported with non-refundable aid of DKK4 million (VND14.8 billion) and over VND2.3 billion of Vietnam’s reciprocal capital contributed by the 12 provinces and cities benefiting from the project./.
