With the themes of multiculturalism and integration, the Overseas Vietnamese Association of Leipzig city in Sachsen, Germany organized multi-cultural festival in the city on February 23.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Uwe Albrecht, Mayor of the city of Leipzig, said that in his position as Mayor he has received cooperation and active support from the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Leipzig, as well as the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany during his working session to Vietnam.
Mr. Albrecht hoped to soon sign specific cooperation projects with Vietnamese partners in the future.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, Mr. Pham Viet Chien, Counsellor of the embassy, affirmed that the overseas Vietnamese community in Leipzig and other regions in the country joined hands to organize the festival, which is clear evidence of the community’s unity and close ties with the homeland.
According to him, they are cultural ambassadors, who have active contributions to promoting the strategic cooperation relations between the people of the two nations.
During the event, dozens of art performances which had been carefully prepared by Vietnamese in Germany drew positive responses from the audience, especially performances of martial arts, monochord, and traditional dance. This was also a chance to introduce Vietnam’s unique culture to international friends
The festival attracted a large number of German and international visitors./.
