PANO – Senior Lieutenant Generals Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics, and Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence, on March 14th received Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Herminio Lopez Diaz.
At the receptions, the generals held that over the past time, Vietnam has attached much importance to boosting all-round relations with Cuba, including defence cooperation. They believed that the ambassador would be a bridge in helping promote the cooperation ties between the two countries in general, and between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and Cuban Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces in particular.
They also hoped that the two sides would soon sign a cooperation agreement in the period of 2014-2016.
For his part, Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz pledged to do his utmost to cultivate the two countries’ traditional relations and affirmed that Vietnam is the bright example for Cuba to follow.
On this occasion, he thanked leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and the People’s Army Newspaper for paying homage to Cuban heroine Melba Hernandez, who was seen as the symbol of Vietnam and Cuba friendship and solidarity.
