Ho Chi Minh city spends over VND122 billion for the poor

In 2013, the “For the poor” campaign of Ho Chi Minh city mobilised over VND122 billion to care for the poor and realise welfare constructions, according to the city Fatherland Front.


The money was spent building and repairing houses and rural bridges; giving scholarships and schooling facilities, medical insurance cards and water containers to the poor.


The spending contributed to reducing the city’s poverty rate from 2.12% to 0.57%.


During a meeting to review the campaign, Vo Thi Dung, President of the city Fatherland Front, asked each collective and individual to save money to help the poor, give the poor more knowledge and understanding of economic development, and expand economic development models of high efficiency to help to create stable jobs for poor labourers./.
