Nhan Dan Online – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision establishing an inter-sectorial steering committee responsible for restructuring credit institutions and dealing with their non-performing loans.


Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh has been named chairman of the committee and State Bank Governor Nguyen Van Binh is its vice chairman. The members of the committee are leaders from related ministries, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Government Office, and the Government Inspectorate, as well as authorities from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.


The committee’s main task is to advise the PM on directing the implementation of measures on restructuring and handling the bad debts held by credit institutions according to the objectives defined in the two schemes on restructuring credit institutions during the 2011-2015 period and settling their bad debts.


The committee is also responsible for proposing direction and solutions to handle important issues during the implementation of the schemes, and assisting the PM in directing relevant ministries, agencies and localities to carry out their assigned tasks under the projects.


It will co-ordinate the actions of ministries, sectors and localities while enhancing their accountability and participation in the implementation of the schemes and in other tasks prescribed by the PM.
