(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang received Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Xomphan Pheng-kham-my in Hanoi on Tuesday.
President Sang highlighted leadership visit exchanges and cooperation, particularly in economics and at regional and global forums between the two countries in recent years. He congratulated Laos on its continued economic growth and its growing prestige in the region. President Sang said he hoped that Laos would remain an active ASEAN member and successfully host rotating sessions between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia and the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Conference.
Xomphan Pheng-kham-my said the purpose of his visit was to study Vietnam’s experiences in law-making and the people’s council model to prepare for the upcoming election of the people’s councils in Laos.
Xomphan Pheng-kham-my was received by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung the same day. Chairman Hung said that Vietnam prioritizes consolidating friendship and cooperation with Laos.
He added that the Vietnamese National Assembly will urge the government to promote cooperation with Laos in economics, education, training, national defense, and security.
