Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples and the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association on the morning of March 27 (Vietnam time) during his official visit to the Caribbean nation.
Meeting the two organisations’ staff, PM Dung affirmed that despite geographical distance, Vietnam always follows Cuba’s situation and is delighted at the country’s socio-economic achievements.
The country also stands side by side with Cuba to make their friendship and solidarity remain forever, he said, adding that he believes Cuba will overcome all difficulties to further develop.
Earlier, the Government leader paid a floral tribute at President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in Havana and visited the Vietnamese Embassy.
The Cuban media have followed this visit of PM Dung, which is taking place from March 26-28.
Cuban Television on its 8pm programme on March 26 (local time) televised the activities of the Vietnamese leader, from the welcome ceremony at the airport to his meetings with Cuban leaders.
It stressed that PM Dung’s visit is an important and meaningful event in bilateral ties and offers a chance for the two countries’ leaders to review reached achievements as well as discuss orientations for cooperation in the time to come.
Meanwhile, the News Agency Prensa Latina and the Cuban News Agency (AIN) on March 25 and 26 published several articles highlighting developments in Vietnam.
In an article posted from Hanoi, Prensa Latina quoted Prime Minister Dung as saying that Vietnam is willing to support and cooperate with Cuba in the fields that the two countries hold advantages for mutual interests.
