Promulgating regulations on functions and duties of Vietnam Environment Administration

The Prime Minister has issued the Decision No. 25/2014/QĐ-TTg regulating functions, duties, authorities and organizational structure of Vietnam Environment Administration under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.


According to the Decision No. 25/2014/QĐ-TTg, Vietnam Environment Administration has 21 major tasks (3 tasks added). In particular, it is notably: Guidelines, inspection on implementing the measures of environmental quality control in urban, rural, mountainous, river basins and coastal zones, industrial parks, export processing zones, hi-tech parks, economic zones, industrial clusters and craft villages; implementing the measures to prevent, respond, handle, and remediate environmental pollution of land, air, water; guidelines on investigating, determining, calculating damage to the environment and compensation liability for environmental damage caused by pollution and degradation in the locality; organizing basic investigation, audit, observation, evaluation of biodiversity on nationwide; building and managing database of investigating biodiversity…


In addition, the Decision has changed the structure of Vietnam Environment Administration, in which, Vietnam Environment Administration will consist of 18 units instead of 12 units as before.


In the context of more serious environmental pollution, empowering and creating suitable legal framework for the State management agency in the field of natural resources and environment is necessary. With the Decision No. 25/2014/QĐ-TTg, functions and duties of Vietnam Environment Administration are defined in detail and more specifically.
