PANO – The hospital ship HQ-561 of the Vietnam People’s Navy on March 28th arrived in Batam Island of Indonesia to be ready for the 2014 Komodo multilateral naval exercise between ASEAN and eight of its dialogue partners, scheduled to open on March 29th.
Other naval ships from participating countries also reached the island as well.
Themed “Cooperation for Stability“, the Komodo exercise will focus on humanitarian aid and disaster relief with the participation of the navies.
The exercise is hoped to boost cooperation among ASEAN member countries and to maintain the central role of ASEAN in disaster relief in particular and regional security issues in general.
