The program launched by Vietnam General Confederation of Labour has brought about lots of practical effects with timely support for many fishermen in distress while fishing, exploiting marine resources at the fishery grounds in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands. The assistance did motivate many fishermen to feel confident to go out to sea fishing. Mr. Tra Chi Thu, Chairman of Fishery Union in Hoa Hiep Trung townlet, said: “Icom locators are extremely precious gifts for fishermen. Via the program, we always hope that our fishing voyage is accompanied by golden-hearts who always pay attention and encourage fishermen to continue clinging the sea”.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Van, Chairwoman of the Provincial Labor Federation, let known: it can be said that the Program asserts the tradition of solidarity, mutual love among our people, being a strong commitment of more than 7.5 million of cadres, trade union’s members nationwide who always accompany with fishery union’s members and fishermen in developing marine economy and protecting the national sacred island sovereignty. So far, the Fund has supported in forms of communication equipment, new-boat building, fishing tools, buying hundreds of crew-insurance, hull insurance for fishermen in the fishery grounds of Hoang Sa, Truong Sa islands with difficulties by the total amount of tens of billion dongs. In recent years, the situation of fishermen’s fishing boats in Vietnam in general and Phu Yen province in particular meeting accidents due to crashing strange foreign ships, coral, or encountering rain, storm … are frequently raised, so equipping Icom locators, hull insurance, crew insurance, life jackets and medical aids for fishermen is necessary, helping fishermen travelling offshore to exploit seafood with safety and effectiveness.
