Only Halal-certified Fish Allowed to Be Imported into UAE

The National Agro Forestry Fisheries Quality Assurance (NAFIQAD) under Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a new rule on Halal certification, requiring all fish products imported into UAE market needs to be certified as Halal food. Aquatic products produced through slaughtering, processing and labelling steps must be compliant with Codex’s food safety standards and Islamic Shariah Law.


The new rule will take effect by June 2014.
