From May 17-18, the 1st Folk Music Festival – Binh Tri Thien 2014, gathering 370 artists from 14 troupes and clubs from central Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue Provinces, officially took place at the provincial Center for Culture and Information.
The Folk Music Festival – Binh Tri Thien 2014 is firstly held at regional level with a larger scale. The festival not only encourages artists to preserve traditional art values, especially unique forms of folk music of each locality, but also creates opportunities for folk artists to exchange and train young artists, including vocalists and traditional musical instrument performers. Success of the festival will be a premise for organizers to hold it alternately in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri.
According to the Organizing Committee, although the festival took place for the 1st time, it attracted most of the traditional art troupes and folk clubs of the three provinces. As a result, 43 prizes were awarded to the most excellent performances.
The 1st Folk Music Festival – Binh Tri Thien 2014 has finished successfully and achieved its goals, especially satisfied artists’ wish of the three provinces. It will be a premise for the 2nd Folk Music Festival – Binh Tri Thien 2016 held in QuangTriProvince.
