The Dai Nam zoo says that its newborn giraffe is a boy.
The 1.9m tall, 50kg baby giraffe was born early Friday morning at the zoo in the Dai Nam tourism complex in the southern province of Binh Duong.
His parents were one of two pairs of giraffes imported from Africa in 2008 and raised semi-wild, in a separate 2,000 m2 garden, zoo director Duong Thanh Phi told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The other couple welcomed a daughter in January.
The naturally conceived babies are breast feeding and growing well.
The two young giraffes are not blood relations, so they could make a mate in the near future, Phi said.
