VGP – Viet Nam is expected to earn around US$ 2.2 billion from exporting raw and processed cashew in 2014, according to the Viet Nam Cashew Association (Vinacas).
According to the Viet Nam Customs, the country shipped 52,515 billion tons of cashew with the revenue of US$ 324,68 million in revenue, up 21.7% in quantity and 23.85% in value.
The Vinacas attributed the surges to the rising demands of China and some markets in the Southeast Asian region during their traditional festivals.
Cashew exports to most of Viet Nam’s foreign markets increased in the first quarter this year with the US experiencing the fastest growth rate of 40.06%, followed by China (24.55%), the UK (110.8%); France (120.6%), Spain (159.8%) and Greece (127%).
Made-in-Viet Nam cashew exports are now available in over 100 countries and territories.
Each year, Viet Nam produces around one million tons of raw cashew, including 6000,000 tons from the domestic market and the rest of 400,000 from Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Western African countries./.
