Concern for people’s health when they have to use toxic charcoal tablets daily to save cost, with her enthusiasm and knowledge, she has successfully studied and produced a clean coal product line in order to protect human health and the environment. The woman we honour here is businesswoman Nguyen Thi Hien, Director of Yen Thinh Coal Trading and Processing Limited Company. Oxi Clean Coal – crystallization of the heart
As a dynamic and energetic woman, after 35 years of tireless dedication in mining and coal supply industry, she has not allowed herself to rest but wants to devote more to her family and those around. Along with enthusiastic participation in social activities, she established Yen Thinh Coal Trading and Processing Co.,Ltd, the first enterprise to use peat coal to produce honeycomb activated coal in Hanoi.
Yen Thinh is also the first enterprise to change its technology, replacing hand-stamping coal machine with electric coal packing machine in the area of Gia Lam district – Hanoi. It is also the only enterprise in Hanoi producing honeycomb activated coal under a complete system of warehouses, yards, machinery equipments and ships which take raw materials of Quang Ninh coal mines to ensure the quality of coal products.
Since 2012, Yen Thinh has continued to innovate technology and introduced a clean coal product line without smell. That is branded Oxi. The manufacturing of Oxi clean coal product has made Yen Thinh the first and only enterprise in the country to produce clean coal with the application of the progress of science and technology of state level. It was awarded certification number 2007/1004/TN5-01 by the Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 1 of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam on 6th October 2007. It is also the only enterprise in Vietnam to produce Oxi clean coal with exclusive reduction formula which helps make coal smokeless and odourless, reducing toxic gases (CO, SO2, NO2) by 80 to 90 percent.
Not only significantly reducing the amount of toxic gases, the clean coal products of Yen Thinh also have the advantage of easily catching fire and not shooting sparks when burning. Therefore, users do not need to incubate coal overnight, thus it is more saving and helps reduce greenhouse gas emission into the environment. Coal can be burned fully for 3-4 hours.
Possessing the above advantages along with reasonable price, Oxi clean coal production of the enterprise has obtained the confidence of households, restaurants and industrial kitchens in the capital of Hanoi and surrounding areas. Accordingly, the market of Oxi clean coal is also growing. As of the end of December 2013, the Company had a total of 11 agents in Hanoi, one in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Hai Phong. Yen Thinh customer chain includes large universities in Hanoi (University of science and Technology, Hanoi University, Hanoi National Economics University, etc.), hospitals (Thanh Nhan Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, etc.), restaurants, dormitories, households, etc. Besides, Oxi clean coal products are also predicted to have great potential for export to neighbouring countries having great demand for honeycomb coal in the near future.
Thanks to its superior quality, Oxi clean coal has brought Yen Thinh many honourable awards including trusted brand of the capital, safe brand for public health, Certification of Vietnam high quality in accordance with standards, award for environmental friendly product, award for products for national environment, famous brand of the century, award for trusted service and product quality and a number of other important awards. In particular, in 2013, Director Nguyen Thi Hien of Yen Thinh Company was honoured with the Golden Rose Award, which is initiated by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) honouring female directors for their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. In addition, her business is also considered one of the typical flags in the development of the local economy.
There exist concerns
Despite the success in business, from the bottom of her heart, that entrepreneur is still concerned when witnessing the diseases and tragic deaths of people because of breathing in toxic gases from unclean coal found in the market. With the heart which always cares about community and brings desire to improve the living environment and fresh air, she is ready to transfer the technology of production of clean coal for businesses so that people across the country are given the opportunity to use quality Vietnamese products.
Sharing about this plan, she said: “I’ve spent a lot of effort and dedication put the application of science into the process of reducing toxic gases in coal yet have to ensure burning quality. I really want more households to have opportunity to use more clean coal. Therefore in the upcoming time, I’ll plan to deploy the technology transfer to small and medium sized businesses in all provinces in the country with a desire to bring consumers non-toxic and clean coal beneficial to human habitat. Besides, I also hope to have the opportunity to expand cooperation and investment in technology and use capital to enhance productivity in both quantity and quality to supply to the market.”
Life is the most precious gift of nature for us to always cherish. Therefore, living a meaningful life is a tribute to our lives. For Ms Nguyen Thi Hien, the greatest happiness is seeing the success she created help create model and green living environment for people and hundreds of poor labourers have stable jobs, gradually making their lives better. It is also the most rewarding award for a woman who lives with her whole heart and mind like entrepreneur Nguyen Thi Hien.
