Police in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak had recovered 23 of 45 escapees from a drug rehabilitation by Tuesday morning.
The previous morning, the inmates refused to come to breakfast.
Supervisors from the province’s social affairs department, entered their dormitory and ordered them to the cafeteria.
Inmates then forced Nguyen Van Binh and Tran Ngoc Kha into a locked room with pairs of scissors, before bringing down the fence and fleeing the center.
Among the returnees are Dau Van Duong, 26, and Nguyen Quoc Huong, 27, who are believed to have masterminded the escape and attacked the two supervisors.
Nearly 100 police officers have been deployed to look for the rest.
