HA NOI (VNS) ─ Vietnam Airlines (VNA) on May 6 cancelled its flight VN780 from Melbourne to HCM City after experiencing an engineering malfunction before take-off.
VNA has announced that the Airbus A330 was backed onto the runway. All 180 passengers, 13 crew members and the luggage were safe.
The case is under investigation.
The VNA has coordinated with other airlines to transfer a number of passengers to other flights bound for HCM City on the same day. Arrangements have been made for the remaining passengers to board the VNA’s flights from Sydney to HCM City on May 7.
The Airbus A330 with registration no.VNA371 has been used by the VNA since 2009. Its latest technology examination was done on May 2, 2014.
The flight’s captain was Nguyen Hai Anh, who has 14,474 hours of flying experience with planes B777 and A330. Hai Anh’s deputy was Beernaert Jeam Clause Girard Simon from France who has flying experience of 12,633 hours. — VNS
