Travel writer Chérie King tells the world how she has been exploring Vietnam with the help of an iPad in her “Chérie King explores a world without limits” post, one of a series of stories introduced by an Apple’s ad campaign called “Your Verse.”

The 25-year-old woman was born with no hearing in both ears, and thus “relies primarily on her ability to read lips, leaning on her hearing aid to help understand conversations better,” according to Apple.

King has traveled to 31 countries and five continents, with iPad becoming an indispensable sidekick.

In her first Vietnam video, King shares her love of traveling and recollects her trip to explore the Southeast Asian country.

As shown in the video, the travel blogger left Marrakech, Morocco for Hanoi. She then began to experience the marvelous landscape in the northern localities like Ninh Binh, where she met local people and tasted local fruits, before heading to Ho Chi Minh City.

In the second video, King talks about how she usually explores a new place, which in this case is the Vietnam’s southern economic hub.

The writer is seen traveling around the city on a xe om — or motorbike taxi, exploring the small alleys across the city, standing at a busy street corner, and shopping at the city’s iconic Ben Thanh market, where she ‘talked’ with traders via an app that can translate and pronounce English phrases and sentences in Vietnamese.

The videos also show King travels on a coach along the rural area in northern Vietnam and sails through Ha Long Bay.

The “Your Verse” ad campaign is launched in a bid to boost sales of the iPad, as Apple suffered a significant decrease in the number of the tablets sold in the first quarter of this year.

Apple sold 16.4 million iPads during the first three months of this year, down from 19.5 million in the previous quarter.

Vietnam has suddenly become Apple’s hottest market after sales there tripled in its fiscal first half, Reuters reported in late April.

Vietnam’s growth rate is five times faster than in India although the country has barely received a mention from Apple executives in their regular briefings for financial analysts.
