Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee’s Deputy Secretary Mr. Tran Van Minh has recently met with Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee’s leaders about the preparation of human resources working in Dung Quat Economic Zone and provincial industrial zones.
According to the PPC report, during the period of between 2014 and 2015 the demand of employment in Dung Quat Economic Zone is estimated to slightly increase. However, in the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Zone (VSIP) it will significantly rise at the end of the year 2014, and the number of workers will increase to 5,000 by the year 2015.The demand of recruited employees – as released by VSIP’s leaders – will continually increase to 16,000 -20,000 workers by 2020.
It is released that VSIP specializes in light industry and processing industry, so most investors in the zone will need a large quantity of workers in the future.
In fact, the province has been dealing with the shortage of trained human resources, so employers mostly train their workers after recruitment.
It is released that about 3,000 workers were trained skills by employers in the fields of electronic components, seafood products, wooden furniture, and the use of sewing machines.
To prepare for an instant trained human resources for investors in the future, Mr. Pham Nhu So – Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee – suggested that it would be necessary to work out a strategy of vocational training that would not only prepare skilled workers for investors but also create job opportunities for provincial residents, particularly people who offered their land to projects.
He suggested that local governments should be a “bridge” connecting vocational training schools with local residents.
According to Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee Tran Van Minh, the current program of vocational training for the sake of DQEZ and IZs has been “ineffective”, and he pointed out the shortcomings of implemented progress.
He said that vocational guidance was not done well, and trained careers were not totally suitable with enterprises’ demands.
The trained workers’ quantity and qualification have been ineffectively that led to the shortage of skilled technical workers.
Employers and provincial relevant offices did not reach agreement in the prediction of recruitment and requirements.
The Deputy Secretary directed provincial relevant offices to focus on the work of prediction about investors’ recruitment demand.
He asked them to make effective vocational training plan for people in project areas; to provide oriented careers to students; to improve training methods and equipment in vocational training schools, or to co-ordinate with advanced schools or colleges in education.
Moreover, local authorities have to strengthen further cooperation with investors and ask them to recruit trained local laborers.
