City’s residents hearty blood donors

Most enthusiastic blood donors in Ho Chi Minh City were honored at a meeting to review the voluntary blood donation programs in the city.


A report issued by the city’s Voluntary Blood Donation Center said that the city leads the country in number of blood donors.


Since 1994 the center has collected over 1.65 million units of blood, over 94 percent of which is safe blood bringing total blood donation surpass the expectation, announced the Voluntary Blood Donation Center


The city has 51 clubs of blood donators who are always ready whenever hospitals are in need.



Moreover, the city has one rare blood club with 22,000 standing members, among them are Nguyen Huu Thuan who has donated blood 77 times and Lam Kien Phuoc with 76 times of blood donation.


Voluntary blood donation programs have grown rapidly with participation of many individuals and organizations. At the meeting, eight most heartily organizations and 427 persons in voluntary blood donation program were honored and present certificates of merit.


City’s Deputy Chairman and President of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in HCMC Hua Ngoc Thuan praised 10 outstanding people in the blood donation movement who will arrive in Hanoi to participate in Hanh Trinh Trai Tim Vietnam (Vietnam’s heart trip).
