Eight foreign contractors resume working in violence-hit economic zone

Eight Chinese contractors have returned to work in anti-China violenceVung Ang Economic Zone that had been hit by said the Economic Zone Management Board in the central province of Ha Tinh on June 5.


The delay was caused by a mid-May anti- China riot on the construction site of Taiwan’s Formosa project because of tensions in the East Sea, triggered by China’s illegally placing an oil drilling rig on the Vietnam’s continental shelf.


Authorized agencies have taken action to keep security in the economic zone and the Formosa construction site and ensure safety for foreign workers and businesses so that they can keep their mind on work.



Ha Tinh People’s Committee together with Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Company will continue to call upon other foreign contractors to return to work in Vung Ang.


The company is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese Formosa Group, who is building Formosa steel mill in the economic zone.
