(VOV) – Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City celebrated Italy’s National Day (1946- 2014), attended by representatives from municipal People’s Committee and diplomatic corps along with Italian people living in the city.
Speaking at the anniversary, Italian Consul General in HCM City Carlotta Colli reviewed historical landmarks as well as her nation’s important achievements and highlighted the fine development of traditional relationship between the two nations.
About Milano EXPO 2015 themed “Feeding the planet- Energy for life” the Italian diplomat said this is a good opportunity for the two countries to exchange experience in areas of mutual interest- trade, investment, water management and food.
On behalf of the municipal leadership, HCM City People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Thanh Liem sent greetings to the people of Italy on this important occasion.
“In recent years, Vietnam-Italy relations have grown steadily in all aspects, especially two countries celebrated 40 years of diplomatic relations with many cultural exchange activities last year. Bilateral trade and economic cooperation has progressed with two-way trade turnover reaching US$3.4 billion”, Liem said.
So far, Italy has poured US$57 million in 15 investment projects in HCM City.
Liem said he hopes that based on good bilateral relations with the goodwill and joint efforts, relations between Vietnam and Italy will grow and flourish.
