People in Quang Duc commune, Hai Ha district in the northern province of Quang Ninh have benefited from a newly-inaugurated safe water installation.

In progress since August 2012, with a total capital of over VND14 billion, the construction project will satisfy the demand for safe water for over 367 families in 6 villages, one central area and some public buildings.
The construction has raised the number of local residents with access to safe water to 87.5%.
The use of safe water has helped the commune to realise another criterion towards completion of the program to build new style rural areas, according to Dang Phuc Van, Chairman of the Quang Duc communal People’s Committee.
Previously, residents had to take water from streams and the channel system.
Being a disadvantaged commune with an ethnic minority population of over 90%, the provision of safe water has contributed to improving people’s lives and promoted socio-economic development./.
