(VOV) – At least 80 Vietnamese companies are showcasing their high-quality Made-in-Vietnam products and services at the second China-South Asia expo which kicked off in Kunming, China, on June 6.
On display at roughly 150 Vietnamese pavilions are a wide array of items including interior wood products, handicrafts, farm produce, processed food, confectionaries, natural rubber, footwear and cosmetics.
Processed seafood- one of Vietnam’s premiere export items – is being marketed for the first time at the event.
Nguyen Ho Nguyen, Managing Director of Lenger Seafood Vietnam, said that his company is introducing the country’s northern coastal provinces’ most popular seafood products at this year’s expo.
The products have a longer shelf life of 10 to 15 days as a result of innovation and use of advanced technology from the Netherlands, he said.
“This gives us an added advantage in competing in China’s coastal provinces like Yunnan province and should allow for better penetration of the market,” he noted.
Nguyen expressed his strong desire to secure firm toe-hold in Kunming and Yunnan which could very well be a springboard for penetrating the marketplaces of neighboring provinces and other nations.
Through the event, Vietnamese companies are eagerly seeking greater trade exchanges with Chinese companies and other countries in the Southeast Asian region as well as international markets.
This year’s expo has attracted representatives of over 1,200 enterprises from 47 nations in the region and the world.
Last year, trade turnover between Vietnamese and Yunnan provinces surpassed US$2 billion. In the first five months of this year alone, both sides achieved an impressive turnover of over US$700 million.
