(VOVworld) – June 21st marked Vietnam’s 89th Revolutionary Press Day. Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission Dinh The Huynh visited and congratulated the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and central media agencies in Hanoi on this day. He expressed his belief that VOV will continue to develop and renew itself to meet people’s need for information.

A meeting to mark Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day was held in Can Tho city on Saturday.

Hau Giang province’s Journalists’ Association organized a meeting to mark the occasion and to announce the 36 winning entries of its press awards in 2013 and 2014. An exchange entitled “Journalists with the love for seas and islands” also took place. Journalist Hoang Nguyen said: “I was on a trip to Truong Sa archipelago by the end of 2013. This exchange was an opportunity for me to share my experience in Truong Sa with other colleagues. It is the responsibility of journalists to communicate issues related to the East Sea, China’s provocative acts, Vietnam’s legal grounds, and the international support for Vietnam.”


A ceremony was held in Hanoi to present the 2013 national press award. Sea and island was one of the main topics. The Voice of Vietnam won 11 awards. Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Ha Minh Hue said that VOV’s entries reflected all aspects of life from politics to economics and society: “Entries in the final round are of high quality, reflecting a wide range of topics. VOV reporters not only featured the situation in Vietnam but also shortcomings, difficulties and solutions. We hail VOV for its quality entries and their impact will certainly be great.”


VOV won 2 A prizes with a special radio program “40 years since the Paris Accord, a victory of Vietnam’s diplomacy and lessons in the new contest” and a report on loopholes in water resources management, 2 B prizes, 2 C prizes, and a consolation prize.
