VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung has recently agreed to build two DNA testing centers to identify remains of Vietnamese war martyrs without adequate personal information.
One DNA testing center will be built by the Ministry of Public Security at a cost of US$13.4 million.
The second one worth US$10.7 million will be developed by the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology.
According to the PM’s Decsion last year, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence and the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology are responsible for identifying remains of 80,000 fallen soldiers without adequate personal information through genetic testing method by 2020.
However, due to the lack of equipment and personnel, the progress of testing was extremely slow in 2013 as 285 remains were identified./.
