FDI disbursement rises 2.3% in seven months

(CPV) - Disbursement of FDI projects reached USD6.8 billion during Jan-July 2014, a year-on-year rise of 2.3%, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).


According to FIA, exports of the foreign-invested sector (including crude oil) over the past seven months were valued at USD55.83 billion, up 1.5% compared to the same period last year. Imports of the sector amounted to USD46.04 billion, up 10.3%.


As of July 20, Vietnam granted licenses for an additional 889 projects with a total registered capital of USD6.85 billion, 99.1 percent against the same period last year. Meanwhile, about 300 projects registered for an increase in capital of USD2.67 billion, 53.7% of the same period last year.


Of the total newly-licensed and increased capital investments over the past seven months, foreign investors have poured USD9.53 billion in Vietnam, up 80.1% a year earlier.


Manufacturing and processing industry attracted the biggest FDI capital with 448 newly-licensed projects capitalized with USD6.66 billion. Following were the real estate, construction, health and social welfare sectors.


From the start of the year, 46 different countries and territories have invested their projects in Vietnam. The Republic of Korea topped the list of the biggest foreign investors with a registered capital of USD3.13 billion, 32.8% of the total FDI capital in the country, closely followed by Japan and Singapore./.
