(VOV) – The Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa plans to build a Vietnam-based industrial park for its businesses to tap this market, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji told a senior Party official in Hanoi on July 25.
At a meeting hosted by Professor Vuong Dinh Hue, head of the Party’s Economic Commission, Yuji, who is paying a visit to Vietnam, said many small and medium-sized businesses from Kanagawa want to invest in the Southeast Asian nation.
He briefed Hue on the result of his visit, including the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the exchange of staff between the Danang Cancer Hospital and the Kanagawa Cancer Centre.
He said Kanagawa is Japan’s second largest locality which has been recognised as one of the six national strategic special zones in the country.
Yuji proposed that the Vietnamese Party’s Economic Commission support increased exchange and stronger cooperation between Kanagawa and Vietnam in various areas, especially economics.
For his part, Hue noted the growing ties between Vietnam and Japan, and said Vietnam wants Japanese businesses to invest in its market to create products of highly added value for local consumers.
He expressed hope the governor will encourage Japanese businesses to engage in medical infrastructure development projects in Vietnam, and at the same time receive Vietnamese engineers for training in the prefecture.
According to Hue, his commission is working on institutional reform measures to improve Vietnam’s investment environment and increase its competitive capacity.
To this end, a delegation of the commission will visit Japan in August to share information and exchange experience with Japanese officials and experts.
