The Hai Duong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on the morning of July 25 held a scientific conference on building the monument “Thunder on Road 5″.
Scientists make suggestions at the conference
According to the draft, the monument work “Thunder on Road 5″ will be located in a precinct covering approximately 10,000 m2 in Tuan Hung commune (Kim Thanh) with such items as yard, garden, monument, relief, management house, etc.
The work consists of two parts: fine art and basic construction, with the material being natural stone, in which the monument will be 10 m tall or taller, the relief will measure 4 m by 20 m. The work will be carried out in 2 years from 2015 to 2017 with a total estimate of about VND30 billion.
At the conference, scientists, painters, sculptors, and representing leaders of departments, boards, and branches basically concurred and were unanimous that the monument and relief complex must arouse the heroic historical revolutionary tradition of the nation, honor the glorious feat of arms on road 5 in the resistance war against the French colonials.
The monument should have an appropriate height to reach grandiosity, high generality, modern layout, and bold national character.
Historical materials should be checked to choose the focal character of the monument.
The relief should be designed to heroically reproduce the story “Thunder on Road 5″ in the old days; natural stone and galvanized concrete will be used as the constructional materials of the monument.
Apart from the monument, the location of the mine battle in the old days needs planning, with a stele recording the milestone erected.
