Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has ordered for providing 1,158 tonnes of rice from the national reserve to the north-western province of Son La, which is traditionally short of the grain until the next harvest.
So far this year the province has received 2,652 tonnes from the Government.
Donors turn up for Can Tho blood drive
Nearly 2,000 donors turned up for the Cross-Country Red Journey Blood Donation campaign in Can Tho on Friday and gave more than 550 units.
More than 1,000 people also received counselling on voluntary blood donation and thalassemia.
The campaign is set to be taken to 25 provinces and cities between July 2 and 28 by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, which is organising it in co-operation with several other organisations.

HCM City imposes fines on fake goods
The HCM City Market Management Department slapped fines of more than VND52 billion (US$2.5 million) in the first six months on people selling smuggled and counterfeit products, an increase of 39.8 per cent year-on-year.
It is also asked seeking criminal proceedings against violators in 12 cases involving banned and smuggled products worth VND43 billion ($2 million).

Da Lat now has more than 100 hectares under strawberry, a three-fold rise over 2010, with many new varieties of the fruit being imported from countries like France, New Zealand, and Japan.
These strains have higher resistance to disease than indigenous ones, which has helped improve output and quality.

Poor workers to access larger loans
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has ordered the Viet Nam Bank for Social Policies to increase the loan ceiling for workers in poor districts seeking to go overseas to work because of the increasing costs.
For instance, the cost of paperwork, fees, and others to go to Japan to work is now around VND160 million ($7,600) compared to VND75 million ($3,600) in 2009.
