(VOVworld) – US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in India on Wednesday on his first official visit since Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in May.
During the 3-day visit, Kerry will pay a courtesy visit to Modi, Indian high-ranking officials, and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj who co-chairs the fifth annual India-US Strategic Dialogue on Thursday
The visit helps boost the stalled bilateral relations between the US and India following diplomatic and trade conflicts. New York’s detention of the Indian Deputy Consul General for visa fraud and disagreement on intellectual possession hindered the development of bilateral relations. Kerry said the friendly relations with India are among US top strategic priorities, adding that this is a potential transformation to US-India partnership when both sides were chasing strategic and historic opportunities. Kerry also expressed his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development plan for India
