The joint declaration was inked by Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng, and Laotian Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong at the second Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Ministerial Conference on crime prevention and control opening yesterday in Da Lat City, the capital of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The joint statement puts an emphasis on effective coordination in combating organized crime, trans-national crime, cybercrime, terrorism, and drug and human trafficking.

Addressing the meeting, General Quang, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam, expressed his high appreciation of the three-side cooperation in crime prevention and fighting, maintaining security and order, and promoting the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity between the three nations.

During the past three years, the three said ministries have boosted their cooperation to ensure national security and social order, and serve the best interest of the countries’ socio-economic development, General Quang said.

The Vietnamese minister and his Laotian and Cambodian counterparts also shared experience in crime prevention, import-export control, and migration in border areas.

Additionally, they agreed to enhance cooperation in information exchange and ensure security and order in border areas, as well as in the Development Triangle Area.
