PANO – The Vietnam Association of the Elderly and the International Eye Hospital – DND Hanoi on August 1st provided free eye examinations and surgeries for the elderly with cataract in Co To and Van Don Island districts, Quang Ninh province.
This was part of the program “Bright eyes for the elderly”, launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defence provided VND 600 million for the program in Quang Ninh and Quang Ngai provinces.
After four years of carrying out the program, 1.5 million old people received eye check-ups. Among them, 167,000 with cataract underwent free surgeries.
In the time to come, the program will continue in Binh Son and Ly Son districts, Quang Ngai province.
