PANO – The Vu A Dinh scholarship fund, in association with the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper and Television, set up the club “For the beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa” on August 1st.

The club will raise funds to care for children of cadres protecting the national sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes and fishermen, as well as organize gratitude activities for families of troops sacrificed on the two islands and DK1 platform.

At the establishment ceremony, it received over VND 2.1 billion from businesses and sponsors.

The same day, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Television and Radio the Voice of Vietnam offered 14 Icom IC-718 radios and five Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB) to fishermen in Quang Nam province.

The equipment was donated by organizations and individuals from home and abroad in response to the campaign “Connecting the East Sea” launched by the ministry and the Vietnam Red Cross Society last year.

In addition, the Farmers’ Association of the Central province of Nghe An has presented over 50 gifts to local families whose members are on missions on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes.
